Tourist product „Honey routes through Durmitor mountain and Herzegovina” with defined standards of offer and services represents anthropological, ethnological, cultural, traditional and gastronomical values of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro with the emphasis on products made of honey are intertwined within “Honey routes”.

Standard offer and services comprise primarily hosting tourists and visitors by 60 beekeepers and restaurateurs who make integral part of this tourist route and who are represented in details within this website.
„Honey routes” include cross-border area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The area extends from the city of Mostar in Herzegovina to Kolašin in the north of Montenegro. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, honey routes represent circular route around main roads Mostar – Gacko – Trebinje – Ravno – Stolac – (Berkovići) – Mostar. In Montenegro, this route includes area towards Nikšić – Šavnik – Plužine – Trsa – Žabljak – Mojkovac – Kolašin – Boan.
This tourist product was established within the project “Typical products as an engine for development of rural areas – TERRA – Honey routes through Durmitor mountain and Herzegovina“ which is funded by the European Union within IPA Cross Border Cooperation Programme Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2007 – 2013.
Project is implemented by the Association for Entrepreneurship and Business LiNK Mostar (BiH) and the Beekeeping Association of Montenegro SPOCG (Montenegro), while project partners are Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives CSTI (Montenegro) and Youth Association for the Promotion of Traditional Products „Okusi Hercegovinu“ (BiH).
The aim of the project is to improve life standards through support and promotion of rural development and tourism towards typical products that generate income and employment. Project encourages development of rural communities in cross-border area Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro through valorization and commercialization of honey as typical product in accordance with examples of good practice in the European Union.
